Dillehay appointed interim county administrator

Bette Dillehay, director of the Mathews Memorial Library, has been appointed to serve as interim county administrator until the new members of the Mathews County Board of Supervisors are seated in January.

At a special meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 8, the board voted by a 3-2 margin to approve the interim appointment, with supervisors Paul Hudgins and Jackie Ingram dissenting.

The action follows the resignation of interim county administrator Sandy Wanner, who unexpectedly notified the board on Dec. 1 that he was resigning as of Monday, Dec. 7.

Dillehay will receive a monthly salary of $8,000 for the position, while her salary as the library director will be suspended until her return to that position. She will begin her new duties on Monday, Dec. 13, the day of the next board meeting.
