Dianne P. Jordan, age 89, passed away on December 31, 2025 at York Post Acute Nursing Home.
Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Samuel Prentice; her husband, Maxwell “Mac” Jordan, and her daughter, Vicki J. Yost. She is survived by her loving family: her daughters and grandchildren, Sandra and Top Allaun; Aaron Kaine and Emily Allaun; Susan Stanaway and her children, Jordan and John Stanaway; and Lisa and Jeff Singleton, Sarah Singleton, and Casey Street, along with her daughter, Blakelyn, Dianne’s great-granddaughter.
Born in Adrian, Michigan, Dianne moved to Virginia during her childhood. She attended Walsingham Academy as a boarding student in the 1940s and later graduated from Gloucester High School. She married Maxwell “Mac” Jordan, and together they built a family. In 1970, Mac was tragically killed in a hydroplane boat accident, leaving Dianne to raise their four young children on her own—a responsibility she carried with remarkable strength, resilience, and devotion.
Dianne was a devoted member of the Episcopal Church, where she found great joy in playing the piano and singing in the church choir.
She was deeply committed to civic engagement and cultural preservation throughout her life. Dianne served as Executive Director of the Gloucester Chamber of Commerce and later as Executive Director of the Watermen’s Museum, where her dedication to community service earned her the Governor’s Award for Volunteerism. She also volunteered with the Office of Volunteer Programs at The Mariners’ Museum and served as a Historical Interpreter with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, sharing her love of history and education with countless visitors.
Throughout her life, Dianne generously gave her time serving on numerous boards and volunteering in her community, leaving a lasting impact on the organizations and people she supported. Dianne will be missed by all.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at York Post Acute Nursing Home and hospice care for their compassionate care and support.
A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dianne’s memory to the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society.
