DEYERLE M. CARACOFF

Deyerle M. "Jim" Caracoff, 89, of Hayes, died peacefully at his home following a long illness, on May 28, 2011.

Jim served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was a retired truck driver for Haywood Seafood. He was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Jim loved working in his garden and especially proud of his tomatoes and cucumbers. He also spent many hours cutting and splitting wood for his woodstove. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and he will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters and brothers; a granddaughter, Theresa Gail Smith; his wife, Jennie Mae Caracoff, and son-in-law, Sammy Smith.

He is survived by daughters, Debra Wilson, Vicki Smith; grandsons, Steven Wilson and wife Ann Marie, Dustin Wilson; step-great-grandsons, Aidan and Caleb, and a host of nieces and nephews

Graveside funeral service with military honors was held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Gloucester Point Cemetery. Family and friends assembled at the cemetery.

The family would like to thank Riverside Walter Reed Hospice staff, Eagle Medical Transport, Concordia Health Care and special caregivers, Rudy Hux and Maria, for the support and care given to Jim.
