Devils rolling despite weather

This has been a crazy week for the Mathews High School varsity baseball team, as it tries to finish out the season strong. The weather has been a killer, pushing three potential games from last week into this week and making field conditions almost impossible.

Despite this weather, on May 5 the Devils traveled to King and Queen Central and stuck through in the rain, winning 16-1. Brian Owens picked up with nine strikeouts through three innings of work, and James Cook led the Devil offense from the lead-off spot. The game was played through some weather issues, but the fact that they were able to stick it out and get the win was very important.

The Devils would not play another game for a week, until Monday night when the West Point Pointers came to town. The Devils honored their eight seniors: Reggie Johnson, Brian Owens, Logan Bell, Zack Jarosz, Hunter Hudgins, Marshall Barrack, Chad Lewis and James Cook.
