Devils keep rolling with wins over Charles City, King William

The Mathews High School varsity boys’ basketball team has worked its record back up to 4-4 after picking up two wins during the past week. Everything has started to come together and they are finally starting to play as a unit.

On Dec. 16, the Devils traveled over to Charles City to face off with the struggling Panthers. The game started off very slow, with the Devils playing down to the level of the Panthers, and went into halftime only leading the game by four. With a little push at the end, the Devils won the game by nine points, 47-38. Nobody really hit their stride offensively, but leaders on the night were Elijah Willis, Stuart Anderson and Taiwan Forrest.

Looking to provide more of an effort, the Devils traveled to King William last Thursday night to defend their winning streak against the 2A Cavaliers.
