The Mathews High School volleyball team hosted itsneighbors from the north last Thursday, and the visiting Middlesex Chargers dominated the Devils, winning both the JV and varsity matches in straight sets.
The game’s theme was “blackout” and the varsity girls wore black warmups, with the student section following suit with black attire as well.
The JV girls started the action with their second home game of the season. Middlesex beat the Devils in two sets, by scores of 25-16 and 25-12.
The varsity contest was a hard-fought affair. Both teams were playing mostly on the same level, with the outcome decided by Devil miscues. Middlesex won three sets to none, 25-17, 25-21 and 25-22.
