Devils destroy Wolverines; Senior Night tonight

In one of the last games before post-season play, the Mathews High School varsity volleyball team destroyed the visiting Carver Academy Wolverines last Thursday in straight sets for the second time this season, 25-10, 25-9 and 25-9.

Mathews will close out its regular season tonight, when the varsity and JV teams host the King and Queen Tigers, with the junior varsity contest starting at 5:30. The game will serve as Senior Night for the varsity squad, with the team honoring its two seniors, Kristen Frank and Lydia Hudgins.

In last Thursday’s varsity-only contest against Carver, the Lady Devils dominated primarily with serve aces while aggressive attacks also contributed greatly. 

Jordan Hunley seemed to hit her offensive stride as her fast arm-swing is earning the Lady Devils points. Hunley had a total of six kills.
