Devils beat West Point, Middlesex in soccer

The Mathews High School varsity soccer team picked up a pair of victories over Conference 42 foes West Point and Middlesex in recent action. The Devils hosted the Pointers last Wednesday, winning 4-1. On Monday, Mathews traveled to Middlesex to blank the Chargers, 8-0.

The junior varsity Devils, meanwhile, lost to West Point and Middlesex by scores of 4-2 and 7-2, respectively.

Mathews came out strong on Monday against the Chargers, with Jordan Bozza and Daniel Michinaux scoring two quick goals in the first 10 minutes of the game. Middlesex did its best to keep the ball, but constant hammering from the Blue Devils’ defense and offense made it impossible and kept the play near the Middlesex goal. Stuart Anderson managed a hat trick in the first half and Chandler Brown scored another Mathews goal, giving the Devils a 6-0 halftime lead.
