Devil booters beat Panthers 15-1, fall to Raiders in tight match

The Mathews High School varsity soccer team lost a tough 3-2 battle last Wednesday at Rappahannock. On Monday, the Blue Devils had a much easier time against a very young Charles City team, winning 15-1. The Devils were scheduled to host King William last night.

The teams appeared to be evenly matched until Rappahannock was able to break through the Mathews defense and score, and soon to score another goal on Mathews. Trailing 2-0, Mathews got back on its feet and held Rappahannock back for the rest of the half. 

The Blue Devils are usually a second-half team, and this game was no exception. After the half started, Stuart Anderson Jr. quickly scored two goals, tying up the contest. In the following minutes, as the momentum shifted, players such as Will Hutcheson, Jordan Bozza, Kevin Jenkins and Anderson had multiple shots on goal.
