The Mathews Community Foundation announced recently the addition of Craig DeRemer of Gwynn to its board of directors. With a background as a trained psychologist and anthropologist, DeRemer brings a wealth of experience to the board, an MCF release stated. He has held several positions within the federal government, including serving on staff for a member of the U.S. Congress and working in other governmental roles. In addition to his public service, DeRemer has worked as a private sector environmental consultant, specializing in wastewater and water systems, as well as wetlands, in multiple states, including Virginia. Since moving to the county, DeRemer has volunteered with several local organizations. He is a member of the Mathews Rotary Club, the Mathews County Visitor’s and Information Center, and the Gwynn’s Island Civic League.
