Denny Hamlin’s Short Track Challenge comes to Hampton

 

When the green flag drops at Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway on Thursday, April 19, race fans will notice a few new drivers in the pack.

The Denny Hamlin Short Track Challenge has made its way to the Hampton venue and will feature several NASCAR Cup Series drivers facing off against local and regional talent. 

Kyle Busch and event namesake Denny Hamlin headline a list of drivers that also includes Timothy Peters, who is the showdown’s reigning champion, and Corey LaJoie, who competes in the Busch Series.

Proceeds will benefit the Denny Hamlin Foundation, a charity with the mission of raising awareness and funds for the specific needs of children with cystic fibrosis.

Speedway owner Bill Mullis, a Gwynn’s Island native and a Gloucester resident, said that the event “proves the value of this facility to the community.”

 

“For people like Denny to believe in us … is very rewarding,” he added.
