Denise King, 63, a longtime resident of Mathews and Gloucester, passed away on Nov. 28, 2016.

Denise was born to John and Nancy Brushwiller of Baltimore, Maryland, in 1953.

Denise was a U.S. Army veteran where she served as a helicopter mechanic. She was a very dedicated educator in public schools in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and Alaska. She taught in both the Gloucester and Mathews school systems for many years.  

Denise was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Marty, all of Maryland.

She is survived by her brother, Mark Brushwiller of Texas; a niece and two nephews.

Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, is handling arrangements for the family.
