Deltaville museum/park holds 20th anniversary reception

The Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park hold this year’s final 20th anniversary reception on Saturday.

The Holly Point Market starts at 9 a.m. The day also includes live music in the Waterfront Park, donation-only admission to the museum, workboat tours on the pier, model trains in the Children’s Garden, egg sandwiches at the Tea House, and food at the Waterfront.

At 10 a.m., the Pierwalk opens with the restored buyboat the F.D. Crockett (the museum’s flagship) open for tours. Weather permitting, the museum’s restored deadrise the Jennie May will conduct tours of Mill and Jackson creeks. The Explorer, the museum’s 1608 John Smith shallop, will also be on display.

The Steve Bassett Band will perform at 6 p.m. in the Groovin’ in the Park series. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door; children under 12 will be admitted free of charge. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit www.deltavillemuseum.com.
