Deltas win twice, move into 1st place

The bats of the Deltaville Deltas stayed as hot as the daytime temperatures last weekend. The Deltas smacked a combined 30 hits in two games as they routed the Richmond Mets, 19-2, and pulled away in the 9th inning of a back-and-forth game to defeat Tappahannock, 13-8.

Deltaville moves to 5-0 in league play, and 6-1 overall, a half-game ahead of 4-0 Richmond Team Woody. Up next for the Deltas will be a 7:30 p.m. home game against the 3-2 Richmond El Heaters on Saturday. On Sunday, a rematch with Team Woody will begin at 2 p.m. at Richmond’s Dorey Park.

Deltas 19, Mets 2

Tyler West smashed four hits and five RBIs, while Devin Sisson pitched six shutout innings, as Deltaville blasted past the Richmond Mets on Saturday night.

West’s first RBI came in the bottom of the first inning with a single to score Colby Roberts, and Jacob Houston scored on a wild pitch to give Deltaville the early 2-0 lead.
