Deltas win home opener

The Deltaville Deltas opened up their 2015 season on a perfect Saturday afternoon last weekend, and came away with a nearly flawless victory, a 3-0 win over the Peninsula Pirates. On the road Sunday, the Deltas fell to the Pirates, 8-2, in Williamsburg.

Gloucester High School alumni once again will play a big part on the team’s roster. Returning players Brett Crawford and Jacob Houston are joined by Kenny Parks and Tyler Wood. Jake Jackson of Mathews is also returning for his second season.

The Deltas (1-1) return home on Saturday night as they face off against the Newport News Cardinals (1-1) in the first night game of the season, with first pitch scheduled for 7:30. The Deltas visit the Cardinals on Sunday in a 4 p.m. contest at Kecoughtan High School.
