Deltas sweep ’Canes to move to top of standings

The Deltaville Deltas offense scored a combined 21 runs in two games last weekend, as they defeated the Hampton Roads Hurricanes by 10-7 and 11-4.

The wins unseated the Hurricanes (5-3) from atop the Southern Virginia Baseball League standings, and propelled the Deltas (7-2) to the first place.

This Saturday, the Deltas will host the Newport News Cardinals in a 7:30 p.m. game at Deltaville Ballpark. On Sunday, the Deltas will travel to Monfalcone Field to take on the Cardinals at 4 p.m.

Saturday night in Deltaville was the definition of a back-and-forth struggle, but the Deltas offense, behind three-hit performances of Travis Myers and Alexander Crittenden, fought to come out on top.
