Deltas survive Pawsox to remain undefeated

In the quest for any perfect sports performance, there are always close calls along the way.

The Deltaville Deltas survived a scare from the Richmond Pawsox, the only team to defeat them in the regular season last year, and won a rivalry game against Tappahannock on Saturday night to maintain an undefeated 12-0 record in league play, and 14-0 overall. Last Thursday’s away game against the Richmond Mets was postponed because of rain.

With no road games this week, Deltaville reloads to face the second-place team in the league, and the 2018 league runner-up, Richmond Team Woody. Team Woody sits at 11-2 in league standings, a game and a half behind Deltaville in the standings. In their only previous matchup this season, Deltaville escaped Team Woody with a 5-3 win on the road.

Saturday night will be in honor of the District Champion Middlesex Little League Senior Baseball all-star team. The Middlesex 13-16 year-olds captured the district title earlier this summer and competed well...
