The Deltaville Deltas will look to end the regular season on a high note this weekend, as they host the York Cannons in their final regular season home game this Saturday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 at Deltaville Ballpark.

This past weekend, the Deltas dropped a pair of games to the Peninsula Pirates and Newport News Cardinals. On Friday night against the Pirates, the Deltas jumped out to an early 7-2 lead. However, a nine-run inning by the Pirates spoiled that great start and the Pirates held on to win, 11-8.

After storms cancelled Saturday night’s doubleheader, the Deltas offense came out flat on Sunday, and a series of defensive errors doomed Deltaville to a 10-0 loss to the Cardinals.

After this weekend’s regular season finale, the Deltas will compete in postseason action in the Southern Virginia Baseball League championship tournament. Playoff action is set to begin on Saturday, Aug. 1. ...
