Deltas fall to York, 3-1

The Deltaville Deltas managed just 6 hits on Sunday afternoon, and fell to the York Cannons, 3-1, in Grafton.

The Cannons plated their first run in the bottom of the second inning on a double steal, and tacked on two more runs in the fourth on a sacrifice fly and a bunt single.

Deltaville responded with a run in the fifth when Jake Jackson scored off the bat of Kenny Parks, and threatened in the sixth with two runners in scoring position, but could not manage any more runs.

Jay Moore took the loss on the mound for Deltaville, allowing two earned runs while pitching into the fourth inning. Will Barrack tossed five scoreless innings in relief.

Scott Crump and Tyler Wood led the Delta hitters, each contributing a single and double.

On Friday, the Deltas will host American Legion Post 271 in a non-league exhibition game at Deltaville Ballpark. On Saturday, league action returns to the ballpark as the Deltas host the Peninsula Pirates. Both games start at 7:30 ...
