Deltas defeat Cannons, 6-2

The Deltaville Deltas defeated the York Cannons on Sunday afternoon, 6-2. The Deltas jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back.

Saturday night’s game with the Cannons was cancelled due to rain.

The Deltas opened up the scoring in the bottom of the first inning, as Alexander Crittenden drove in a run with a single, and then scored on a hit by Scott Crump. Deltaville extended its lead in the fourth, tacking on a pair of runs via a two-RBI hit by Mathews High alumnus Jake Jackson. Deltaville took advantage of a defensive error later in the frame to make their lead 6-0. York scored runs in the fifth and seventh innings, but were held at bay by the Deltas’ defense. Josh Moore earned the pitching win, allowing a run on four hits over five innings. Eamonn Collins completed the final four innings, allowing one run while striking out five.

Jackson and Crittenden led the offense, each with a double and single.
