Deltas clinch second seed in SVBL playoffs

 

The Deltaville Deltas split a doubleheader with the Peninsula Cardinals on Sunday, dropping the opening game 4-3, but winning the nightcap 4-1. With the split, the Deltas secured second seed and a first-round bye in the Southern Virginia Baseball League tournament, which begins this weekend.

Saturday night’s home game was rained out, and was made up as part of a doubleheader on Sunday.

Deltaville will host a quarterfinal game in the double elimination tournament at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Deltaville Ballpark. The Deltas will play the winner of Friday night’s opening round game between the third- and sixth-seed teams. As of press time, the final four seeds have not been finalized, with rain out make-up games still to play.
