Deltas clinch regular season title

Hosting the league’s second-place team in a game to clinch their fourth consecutive regular season title, the Deltaville Deltas left no question early on as to what the outcome would be.

Five Deltas players recorded multi-hit games, led by former Gloucester standout Jason Wood’s 3-for-3, four-RBI performance, as Deltaville rolled over Richmond Team Woody, 20-1, on Saturday night at Deltaville Ballpark.

Both teams had baserunners reach in the first inning, but neither managed to score. In the second, Scott Crump led off the inning with a base hit, and after taking advantage of a defensive error, scored on a passed ball.

The Deltas blew the doors off in the third inning, however. Eleven consecutive Deltaville batters reached base before Team Woody was able to record an out, and the Deltas finished the inning leading, 13-0.
