Delayed by COVID-19, Deltaville Deltas upend Sharks in season opener

Despite a delay of nearly a month due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Deltaville Deltas finally hit the field Saturday night, and have a full slate of games scheduled for the rest of the summer.

Coming off a 19-2 season a year ago, the Deltas’ offense picked up right where it left off on Saturday night, scoring early and often in a 14-1 victory over the Chesapeake Sharks.

Spencer Crittenden sparked the scoring in the first inning, smashing a two-run double to the left-center gap to a three-run rally. Jake Jackson continued the barrage the following inning, blasting a two-run home run over the left-field wall to extend the Deltas lead to 5-0.
