Deer apparently shot from road in ‘senseless act’

Brad Hudgins of Zanoni was immediately suspicious when he saw a dead deer lying just off Bailey’s Wharf Road Sunday morning. “I knew they don’t cross the road there so I got out and looked at it, and it had been shot,” said Hudgins. 

Hudgins continued his drive out of the neighborhood, traveling up Zanoni Road to its intersection with T.C. Walker Road. “I came up the hill on Zanoni at T.C. Walker and I saw two more deer off the side of the road in the field,” he recalled. Both does had been shot. 

Deciding to make the neighborhood loop, Hudgins made a left on T.C. Walker and after a mile or so another left on Crockett Lane, which heads back into Zanoni. That is where he found the fourth victim, a young deer that had been shot, just off the roadway.
