Deck dedication

The observation deck at the Thomas Hunter Middle School will be dedicated Saturday to the memory of Jordan Stewart, who was a seventh grade student at the time of his death in a tragic hunting accident two years ago. Students and parents of THMS students have been working on the project since late spring. When completed the observation deck will join one of several outdoor classrooms already on the trail. From the deck, students will be able to make observations of the dedicated meadow in one direction and a mature forest in the other. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. Students from the middle school will bring their pets and be stationed at various locations on the trail. The community will be invited to share this event, walk the trail, see the students’ pets, and enjoy a lunch of hot dogs, potato chips and soda.
