Deadline approaches for TOGA essay contest

The Tidewater Oyster Gardeners Association Middle School Essay Contest deadline is December 15. In this contest, students must write an essay on oysters with the theme, “Consider the Oyster.” TOGA is offering prizes of $500, $250 and $100 for first, second and third places, respectively, for the top essays.
TOGA has held essay contests the past 11 years.
The competition is open to all Virginia students in grades 6, 7 and 8. Home-schooled students are also welcome to enter.
Winners will be announced at the TOGA membership party on March 22, 2025 at the Camp Kekoka Boys and Girls Club Camp near Kilmarnock in Lancaster County.
The three top winners will be published on the TOGA website, and may be published in other publications or websites, a release said.
