Sonshine Kids Daycare opened for business Nov. 28 at Dutton. The daycare center is a new ministry of Living Waters Church, where it occupies several rooms.

Gabrielle M. Gordon of Dutton, is the daycare director. Her husband, Charles, is the young adult pastor at Living Waters.

Gordon said the center is permitted to serve up to 25 children. As of Dec. 2, five children were registered, with more expected to be attending there soon. Plans are to add up to four daycare assistants as attendance grows, Gordon said.

"This is an outreach to the community," she said. The center has one room for one- and two-year olds, with another room assigned for three- and four-year olds. Also, Sonshine offers before- and after- school care for children ages 1-12.
Sonshine offers a variety of "learning stations," Gordon said, where children can play dress up, do puzzles, color, enjoy music and other activities. She plans on adding a Christian-oriented educational curriculum earl...
