DAVID ROCKY CONNER

A funeral service for David Rocky Conner, 76, of Clay Bank, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, in Bellamy United Methodist Church, Gloucester. He died Nov. 23, 2016.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Hall Conner; daughter, Sherri Conner, and parents, Ernest and Catherine Conner.

Survivors include siblings, Fannie Mae Dixon and Leroy Conner; two sons, Douglas and Michael, and three grandchildren.

He graduated from Hampton High School in 1958 and went on to study Electrical Engineering at what is now Old Dominion University, graduating in 1961. He began working at Newport News Shipyard as a ship electrical technician. In 1964, he was recruited by NAVSEA Combat Systems Engineering Station where he worked on Sonar for Ohio Class Submarines. He retired in 2006 from TITAN.

He was a member of Achilles Masonic Lodge No. 281 AF & AM and the Khedive Temple of The Tidewater Shrine Club. He served Bellamy United Methodist Church in several capacities.

The family received friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. The Rev. Kenneth Waclo will conduct the funeral and there will be a time for fellowship after the service. Interment with Masonic Rites will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Parklawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Hampton.
