David D. Abbott, 76, died on Dec. 19, 2017 in Chandler, Arizona.

He was born in Trinidad, Colorado, and his grandparents were pioneers in Colorado.

David was predeceased by his parents, Alberta and Henry Abbott, his son, Daniel H. Abbott, and best friend, Morgan Wells.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jane J. Abbott and son, John D. Abbott and family, all of Chandler, Arizona.

David was a graduate of Virginia Tech, and was an engineer for many years in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia.  He enjoyed the first 20 years of his retirement in Mathews County and was a member of the Friends of the Mathews Memorial Library and Master Gardeners of Mathews County.
