Data Investigations to head up survey of Gwynn’s Island buildings

Preservation Mathews announced Tuesday that the Virginia Department of Historic Resources has chosen Data Investigations of Gloucester as the contractor to perform the upcoming architectural survey of all buildings on Gwynn’s Island. This is the first step in having the island designated as a historic district.

Public meeting

The first public meeting for the project will be held at 7 p.m. next Thursday, June 3, outdoors at the Gwynn’s Island Civic League. Dr. David Brown of Data Investigations and several representatives from VDHR will be present to go over the timeline of the project and answer any questions from the public, said a press release.

For those unable to attend, Preservation Mathews will record the meeting for publication on the website www.preservationmathews.org, said the release, and will attempt to livestream the meeting on the Preservation Mathews Facebook page.
