DARYL REGIS KOHLHORST

Daryl Regis Kohlhorst, 59, of Gloucester, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 24, 2014.

He was born in Michigan, and after serving as an ABH3 Aircraft Handler in the U.S. Navy, moved to Virginia in 1983. He worked as a VW mechanic in Newport News before joining the Civil Service as an Electronic Security & Alarm Technician. In 2010 he retired as a Radiac Calibration Technician from the Ordnance Systems Engineering and Management Dept. at the Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown, Va. 

Daryl was always busy with building/restoration projects and he especially enjoyed vintage VWs. He loved the outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and canine companionship.

Daryl will be dearly missed by his wife, Dana; daughters, Erin and Kasey; brothers, Loren (Jan), Myren (Carole); sister, Janine Gulich; nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held at Bellamy UMC in Gloucester on Thursday, July 10 at 3 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 4 o’clock. Interment at the Great Lakes Memorial Cemetery, Holly, Mich., is scheduled for Aug. 4.   

His gentle spirit has been restored and he is jumping up and down in heaven today.
