The Augustine Warner Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution held its annual picnic at Machicomoco State Park, Hayes, and presented Tom Karow, board president of the Fairfield Foundation with a $3,000 donation towards a matching funds state grant. In line with the DAR mission, these funds will be used for historic preservation and education of the Rosewell Ruins. Karow also provided the chapter with a tour of Timberneck. Shown at the presentation are, above from left, Anne Page, Fran James, Janet Lineberry, Lori Black, Kate Hodgson, Karow, Tricia Bynum, Alison Johnston, Olivia Tautkus, Bonnie Daughtry, Elizabeth Aldrich and Cameron Rouse. Also at the picnic, which was held on Saturday (Flag Day), Rep. Rob Wittman (R-Montross) visited and presented the chapter an extension of remarks that he brought before Congress and a flag that was flown over the Capitol for the chapter. Wittman is pictured below with Johnston, the DAR chapter vice regent.
