The Augustine Warner Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution held its annual picnic at Machicomoco State Park, Hayes, and presented Tom Karow, board president of the Fairfield Foundation with a $3,000 donation towards a matching funds state grant. In line with the DAR mission, these funds will be used for historic preservation and education of the Rosewell Ruins. Karow also provided the chapter with a tour of Timberneck. Also at the picnic, which was held on Saturday (Flag Day), Rep. Rob Wittman (R-Montross) visited and presented the chapter an extension of remarks that he brought before Congress and a flag that was flown over the Capitol for the chapter. Wittman is pictured below with Johnston, the DAR chapter vice regent.
