DANIEL WILEY HOGGE

Daniel Wiley Hogge, age 95, died at Morningside of Williamsburg Assisted Living on August 29, 2016.

He was originally from Gloucester, Virginia, Wicomico area, where he graduated from Achilles High School. He served in the Navy as a radio operator for an observation airplane of the cruiser Raleigh. The technical training received prepared him for a civil service career in the Ordnance Department of the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station. Wiley was an active member of the Men’s Bible Class of Providence Baptist Church. He was active in various community organizations including the American Legion and the zoning appeals board. Wiley had interests in all things mechanical, tractors, boats, and hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Winona C. Hogge; brother, Murphy Hogge, and sister, Rose Marie Ward. 

He is survived by children, Edward F. Hogge and wife Anne, Stuart D. Hogge and wife Maria, Bryan P. Hogge and wife Jane; and grandchildren, Emily and husband Michael, Peter, Daniel and Ben; as well as nieces and nephews and their descendants too numerous to mention.

Funeral services conduced by the Rev. Thomas Cohick, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2016, at Providence Baptist Church, Hayes. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2016, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
