Daniel W. Richards of Gloucester, formerly of Vassalboro, Maine, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer.

The highlight of his life was spending time vacationing with his grandchildren, coaching sports, and playing a round of golf with friends and family. He enjoyed watching and cheering for the continued dominance of the Patriots, Red Sox, and Bruins.

Daniel, who was born in Maine on April 4, 1960, lived to the age 58 years old.

Daniel is survived by his best friend and wife of 37 years, Melinda (Wade); children, Matt and wife Megan, Elizabeth, Kevin and wife Kelsi, and Katlin; grandchildren, Nicholas, Jackson, Reiliann, and Benjamin; parents, Winthrop and Pauline Richards of Maine; in-laws, Neil and Mary Wade of Maine; siblings, Rhonda Giroux of Ohio, Laurie Harding of Maine, and Brenda Ailstock of Florida.   

He was predeceased by son, Daniel II and brother, Wynne.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, 4-6 p.m. at Petsworth Baptist Church Gloucester. Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. at Petsworth Baptist Church, Gloucester.
