DALE A. MARCELLUS

Dale A. Marcellus, 79, of Albany, Wisconsin and formerly of Virginia and Belvidere, Illinois, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, March 22, 2017, in his home.

Dale was born on Dec. 7, 1937 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Lawrence and Augusta Marcellus. He graduated from Belvidere High School and then served our country in the United States Marine Corps.

Dale married Ruth Weeks in Belvidere in 1967. Over the years, he worked as a machinist and supervisor of machinery for companies including Marcellus Industries, Sundstrand Corporation, and the Cannon Corporation from which he retired.

When Dale was not working he enjoyed all sports, reading westerns, watching classic episodes of M.A.S.H., working on cars, bowling. Dale loved his family and watching the delight in Ruth’s face as she showed him her latest acquisition from an auction. He made his spiritual home attending the Hilltop Christian Church in Albany, Wisconsin.

Dale is loved and will be missed by his wife, Ruth; children, Dwight (Juli) Marcellus of North Carolina, Derek (Andrea) Marcellus of Wisconsin, Darla (David) Althizer of North Carolina, Tabara Marcellus of Virginia and Jasmine Marcellus of Wisconsin; siblings, Dolores (Tom) Moss of Poplar Grove, Illinois, Dean (Laura) Marcellus and Darcie (Michael) Chamberlain, both of Belvidere; 12 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents.

 Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 27, 2017, at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Street, Belvidere, with the Rev. Raymond Jewel, pastor of Hilltop Christian Church, Albany, officiating. Visitation was held from 12:30-1:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial was in Highland Garden of Memories.
