Monday saw the opening of The Daily Grind, a new independent coffee shop in Mathews. Above, Carmaleta Billups, center, and Makoi Emmanuel, at left, assist a customer in getting his coffee fix. The shop sits adjacent to the former Best Value supermarket building and features a full line of hot and cold coffee and espresso drinks, a spacious seating area, and free Wi-Fi.
