The Daily Grind Coffee House in Mathews, a popular gathering place for local residents, will be closing on Feb. 4, and the building is under contract for sale.

Vonda Lennon, who owns the business along with her husband, Dr. Ben Lennon, said a closing date is scheduled in February.

Selling the business was “a very hard decision for us to make,” said Lennon, adding, “The coffee shop is our heart.” Various factors played into the decision to sell, she said, but ultimately “it was just time” for the family to part with the property.

The business opened in January 2019 as a place to bring the community together, said Lennon.

“We wanted it to be something good for the community,” she said. “And we’re so thankful for the community’s support and loyalty over the past three years. It’s been nothing but joy, and we’re so grateful.”
