‘Daffodils of the Creek’

Gloucester artist Carol Aldridge (center), whose work has been selected several times in the past, was named the winner of the 2024 Gloucester Daffodil Poster Contest, with her work unveiled at a reception Saturday afternoon at the Fine Arts Museum of Gloucester. Her painting, “Daffodils of the Creek,” shows a pair of red Adirondack chairs on a dock, with bright yellow daffodils in the foreground. Myrna Graham, second from left, received honorable mention for “Morning Blooms.” Other contestants, not pictured, included Glenn Brooks (who entered “The Big Bloom”) and Tiffany-Amber Bates (who entered “Pekin at Beaverdam”). Assisting in the unveiling were, at left, Miss Southside Virginia 2024 Madison Cruz and, at right, 2023 Little Miss Daffodil Kate Hunter. Prints will be available at the festival for $25.
