Daffodil Festival’s 30th to be celebrated with sailing excursions

{iamge_2} This spring will mark a special milestone for the Gloucester Daffodil Festival, its 30th anniversary. To help celebrate, the Daffodil Festival Council and county Parks, Recreation and Tourism staff have announced that a special activity, “Sailing with the Daffodils,” has been planned.

According to festival coordinator Debbie Wesolowski, tickets are on sale for the special event, which will include three separate sails on April 1 aboard the 105-foot tall ship “Alliance,” from where it will be moored at Five Gables Estate, on the nearby Ware River, up the North River and back again.

Wesolowski said ticketholders will be able to enjoy a picturesque voyage to the estates where Gloucester’s daffodil history began and flourished. Along the way, the community theater group, the Court House Players, will bring alive the story of the current daffodil production at Brent and Becky’s Bulbs, Ware Neck, as the actual sites come into view.
