Gloucester Daffodil Club members brought home a number of awards from the annual Virginia Daffodil Society Show, held at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond over the weekend of March 21 and 22.
Although daffodils started blooming “a little later this year,” said a press release, turnout at the show was still good and included 1,414 stems with 812 entries and 68 exhibitors in the Horticulture Division. The Photography Division had 61 photos and 14 photographers.
The American Daffodil Society Gold Ribbon for Best Standard Size Daffodil was awarded to Gloucester Daffodil Club founder Peggy Bowditch. She also won a ribbon for Best Classic Three-Stem.
Club members received the following additional awards:
Susan Auman—Silver Ribbon for Most Blue Ribbons in Horticulture, White Ribbon for Best of Three Standard Daffodils, and ribbons for Best Historic, Historic Collection of Five, and Miniature Container-Grown.
Anne Earman—In Miniature category, White Ribbon for Best Set of Three Miniature Daffodils, Lavender Ribbon for Best Collection of Five Miniature Daffodils, and a ribbon for Best Intermediate Three-Stem.
Carla Stanley—Ribbons for Best Intermediate and Best Intermediate Collection of Five.
Ceci Brown—Ribbon for Best Classic Collection of Five.
