D.C. reception

Gage Holland of Gloucester was recognized along with his fellow Eagle Scouts at a recent breakfast reception in Washington, D.C., hosted by U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine. Both men spent time as Boy Scouts and they reflected on the importance of Scouting in the community and in a young person’s life. Holland achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in August 2018. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 138, chartered to the Gloucester Moose Lodge, where he earned over 65 merit badges. His Eagle Project involved building tables and beautification of the area around Gloucester County Probation and Parole offices. Only 5 percent of all Boy Scouts achieve Scouting’s highest rank. Holland is a student at Old Dominion University; he plans on being a Boy Scout leader in the future. Shown here at the reception are, from left, Sen. Warner, Kathleen Demet, Melissa Holland, Eagle Scout Gage Holland, Scoutmaster Glenn Holland and Sen. Kaine. ...
