Creative Collaborations reception Friday at Bay School in Mathews

An opening reception for the exhibit Creative Collaborations will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Bay School Community Arts Center, Mathews. The public is invited. Drinks and finger foods will be served.

Each entry in the show is a collaborative effort by two or more friends, peers or family members, a notice said. Artwork includes sculpture, hanging art, jewelry, pottery, and decorative pieces. A total of 13 collaborative works were entered.

One such piece was painted by Margaret and Robert Jones. The two “decided to give it a shot,” said Margaret Benton-Jones. “We began with a discussion on what we wanted to paint and agreed on an abstract.”

After trying a few samples on smaller canvases, they primed their canvas, selected their color palette, and took turns painting things in things—and painting things out, she said, adding “We were both happy with the end results.”

The show will be on exhibit through Aug. 22.
