Crawford celebrates 40th anniversary this weekend

Crawford Moving and Storage, Inc., will be celebrating its 40th anniversary on Friday and Saturday.

Gordon and Margaret "Libby" Crawford began the business in Mathews in 1973 and continued to operate as partners until Gordon retired in 1998, selling his interest to their son Greg and Greg’s wife Joyce. Gordon died in 2001.

Libby remained active for several years, selling her half to younger son Jeff who later sold it to Greg and Joyce.

 

Soon thereafter, Joyce’s Pack & Ship with UPS Service was added and a gift shop was later opened in the building, which is located on Buckley Hall Road across from Bank of America. Today the business continues to offer local and long distance hauling with a local climate-controlled facility. An office has recently been opened in Kilmarnock.
