Crafty Cottage opens at 17 Plaza

The Crafty Cottage, LLC, opened for business at 17 Plaza, Ordinary, in early September. A grand opening was held Sept. 30-Oct. 1.

Sean Britton of Ark owns the business. Originally from Poquoson, he has worked at NASA for more than 30 years.

Manager Lynn Walls of Ark said the Crafty Cottage sells a wide range of handmade items. She sells some of her own artwork there, including eggs decorated with a Japanese technique.

Currently she has shelf and wall space filled by about three dozen consigners, with space to accommodate goods from others.

Items range from custom wooden platters to handmade glasses to jewelry. Some consignors sell items that are inspired by the nautical nature of the region, while some already are selling Christmas ornaments and Halloween crafts. Homemade jams and jellies are for sale, along with yard flags, gnomes, an assortment of freshly made breads, artwork made with sea shells, and handmade clothing including some cute outfits for small children.
