Craft store in Gloucester to close

 After over 10 years of business, Field’s Quilting & Craft Supplies, LLC, will be closing its doors Dec. 29. Owner Robin Field of Mathews said she and her husband are relocating to another state for his job.

Field started the business in 2008 and said she kind of “fell into it.” At the time, Gloucester didn’t have anything similar for quilting enthusiasts. She and her husband were at a craft show in Minnesota and she said to him, “Gloucester needs this,” and he replied, “Go for it.”

She started out selling all types of “crafty stuff,” and then evolved her merchandise to mirror the items most people came in showing interest in. “It was then I leaned more toward quilting,” Field said. 

“It’s been a love,” she said. And the best part of having the shop is the relationships she has built with her customers. “I have enjoyed the customers the most and the community.
