Crabbers stay unbeaten with win over Dukes

The undefeated Hampton Crabbers (6-0) added another win to their record with a 74-7 victory over the visiting Gloucester Dukes (1-5) in Darling Stadium last Thursday.

The Crabbers scored 11 touchdowns in the rout and had 254 receiving yards and 159 more on the ground. Gloucester passed for 210 yards but was held to only 30 yards rushing. Four lost fumbles and three pass interceptions also hurt the Dukes.

Gloucester avoided a shutout early with a 10-yard scoring pass from Elijah Shaffer to Owen Rousselle with the PAT kick by Daniel Wright in the first quarter. Hampton held the Dukes scoreless for the remainder of the game.

Rousselle had 11 receptions for 109 yards for Gloucester and Caleb Smith had seven for 98 yards. Martaine Morris tallied 57 rushing yards and had three tackles and an assist.

The Dukes return to Darling tonight to take on Phoebus (5-0). ...
