Crabbers beat GHS 6-3 in baseball

Gloucester hosted Hampton in Peninsula District baseball action on Monday and fell to the visiting Crabbers, 6-3. Hampton opened the game with four runs in the top of the first inning and added two more in the second for an early 6-0 lead.

The Dukes managed two runs in the second when Jacob Houston and Josh Martin reached on singles and Brian Belvin drove them in with a double. Tyler Wood took over the Gloucester pitching duties in the top of the third and stopped the Crabbers’ scoring.

Gloucester managed another run in the fifth when Matt Contreras reached first on an error and went to second on a wild pitch. He advanced to third on a throwing error by the Hampton catcher and scored on a grounder to the shortstop by Ethan Sabo.
The Dukes fell to Menchville, 11-1, on April 20 in their second loss of the season to the top-ranked Monarchs. Michael Clements led off the game for Gloucester with a walk and Sabo moved him to second with a sacrifice fly before the offense stalle...
