Coyle to serve as new Head of School at CCS

Beginning with the 2022-2023 school year, William J. “Billy” Coyle will serve as the 17th Head of School at Christchurch School in Middlesex. He will take over from the school’s current and longest-serving head, Jeb Byers, who will retire at the conclusion of the 2021-22 school year.

Lynne Tatum Little, chair of the CCS Board of Governors, announced the decision in a Sept. 22 letter.

“As Chair of the Board of Board of Governors and on behalf of the Church Schools in the Diocese of Virginia, I am delighted to inform you that William J. “Billy” Coyle has been elected unanimously and enthusiastically as Christchurch School’s 17th Head of School effective July 1, 2022,” she wrote.

Coyle has nearly 20 years of independent school experience in both boarding and day schools. He has been Director of Finance and Operations at Palm Beach (Florida) Day Academy for more than a decade.
