COVID-19 cases in Mathews County increased over the past week (from Wednesday, Aug. 17 to Aug. 24), adding 16 new cases with a grand total of 1,719 cases since the pandemic began. There were no new deaths attributed to the disease reported for this past week.

Four cases and one death were taken away from Gloucester’s Covid count for a total of 8,353 cases and 106 deaths over all time. Middlesex had three new cases reported for this past week for a grand total of 2,147 cases and one new death due to the disease for a total of 49 deaths over all time.

Statewide, 17,442 new cases of the virus were reported, for a total of 2,022,778 cases over all time. There were 269 new hospitalizations for a total of 55,018 and 107 new deaths for a total of 21,310 since the pandemic began.
