Countywide cleanup to be held on Nov. 19 in Mathews

The Mathews Visitor and Information Center will host its annual clean-up day at sites throughout the county next Saturday, Nov. 19.

Volunteers can meet at MCVIC as early as 8 a.m. for coffee and light refreshments and then proceed to their respective locations.

"If you are already an Adopt a Highway volunteer, you are very familiar with cleaning your designated route," said Ann Miller, executive director of MCVIC. "If you are a resident that wants to clean up your neighborhood, you can come by MCVIC and get trash bags and safety vests to accomplish the task."

According to Miller, it is not necessary for participants to haul their filled orange bags away, as MCVIC notifies VDOT of any bags that need to be picked up. Participants are asked to call MCVIC with the location and number of bags.

For more information, call MCVIC at 725-4229.
